So after arriving in Chicago last night and driving from the airport, I finally arrived at the home of our hosts Russ and Jane Jorgensen. These folks are spiritually gifted in hospitality.
I can say that not from any information but I can say that from a feeling I get, a feeling of being totally ‘at home’ and not at all awkward as one might when you first stay in someones home that you don’t know.
They were telling me that their world is richer and blessed by them hosting people in their home.

Then today Andrew and I went to a Church in the city centre of Chicago called Soul CIty Church. ( www.soulcitychurch.com )The Pastor of the Church is Jarrett Stevens, a great preacher. His message was about giving and being generous. The whole message was outstanding but there was one scripture that he mentioned that really struck me.
(‭Proverbs‬ ‭11‬:‭24‬ MSG)The world of the generous gets larger and larger; the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller.
Russ and Jane’s world is getting bigger because of their generosity! They host people from all around the world and they make new friends and have said they themselves have friends to visit and invitations of places to say in multiple countries.
As Christ followers our world should be getting BIGGER, NOT smaller. We can be generous in more than money. We can be generous in our hospitality but we HAVE TO be generous in our hope, generous with vision and generous in passion. Because the world needs more hope, it needs a compelling vision to fuel the hope and need passionate people to make known a REAL BIG GOD! This been a brilliant and thought provoking day. Thank you Jesus!!
